As you can probably tell, I’ve been enjoying my break from Shoreline. With the considerable exception of the organizing of home and business, the truth is that I’ve deliberately avoided many self-imposed commitments (like blogging). This has given me time to reflect on my course and to investigate options. I don’t want to go too far into any of the details at this moment, so I’ll just offer that I’ll be making some serious adjustments to my goals in the not-so-distant future.
One significant change on the horizon has to do with the end of my much-enjoyed leisure time. An ongoing conversation with one of my favorite creative agents has led to an interview with a creative firm that works for Microsoft. I’ll be presenting myself to the powers-that-be on the east side at 10:30 this morning. I don’t have too much specific information at the moment (at least, not that I want to talk about here). The assignment sounds like straightforward production support, involving flowing text and making edits in InDesign for product packaging. The demand is serious, and I’m guessing that overtime is a factor. Of course, I have no idea how long this assignment will actually last. I really want and appreciate this opportunity. I’ve printed out copies of some of the packaging I’ve worked on for Microsoft in the past for today’s portfolio presentation, hoping that this will speak directly to this client’s interest.
Something else that deserves mention relates to my photographic interests. In the past week I’ve had three different encounters with people asking about my photography. In the first instance, I had a friend of a friend ask for and buy one of my mounted photographs. I had some friends talk to me in depth about photographing their band in the second instance . And yesterday’s visit to the O.P. culminated in wedding prospect. Sure, I still have a lot more that I want to explore in the way of photography, but I don’t want to overlook the significance of these encounters!
