Long Time, No See

Now, that’s a new record for me not posting on this site. What can I say? I really don’t feel I had much choice about the decision. Back on July 4th, when I replaced the ianspiers.com homepage with a simple text message, I was really starting to get slammed wwith traffic over at my other site, brownequalsterrorist. Considering the large number of graphic files I have on this site, I realized that if a small percentage of that traffic would have spilled over here I would have quickly maxed out my allotted bandwidth for the month and, subsequently, been shut down. Since I was more than a little busy with Brown at the time the choice was simple; I took ianspiers.com offline.
Today is Sunday, August 22nd, and that means I only have a little over a month to get my act together so I’ll be ready for Fall Quarter over at Shoreline. If everything works out like I want it to, I’ll be heading into the darkroom for “Intermediate Black & White Photography.” (Maybe I can stay out of trouble this quarter.)
Across the board, I really need to get a better sense of balance in my day-to-day life. I’ve gone through a lot of changes over the summer and have felt too busy to give all that’s needed its due. Hopefully, this will be the week that gets me back on track.
It started raining yesterday, it’s pouring now, and the forecast is for rain all this week. Good. We’ve needed a good, hard rain.

I found your story about photographing the locks while researching the patriot act. I hope you don’t mind me text editing it to ethepeople.org for an article I posted there.
I’m percieved as a white, although my grandmother’s geneology fanaticism led to us finding out that one of our slave owning ancestors had plenty of sex with his slaves. Obviously she is not my only ancestor, so I’m a mutt, as derived from her daughters deeper delving into both grandparents history.
I only know the prejudice you have experienced from my own attitude to be outside the mainstream. Mine is by choice. But a choice that no self respecting human can deny. Then again, I’ve been in jail (etc.), where I’m the minority and I have to fight for my rights as a human. Also, I have been “gay bashed”(Beat up by 5 white band guys from Detroit, because of the way I looked) and I’m heterosexual. Rednecks will see anything they want.
Enough of all that I just wanted to thank you for your story. And fight the good fight!
You handled that situation better than I would have.
    Sincerely, Dan
