They’ve Given Me “The Key”

Wow. We’re half way through the year today. That’s a trip.

Tomorrow will be my last day of work before I get a three-day holiday weekend. As is the norm for freelancing jobs, I wont be getting paid for my time off. Of course, I don’t really care about that. Sure, it would be nice, but I’ve been so busy lately that I’m really just looking forward to having the time off. I really need to get into some of that quiet time I’m always talking about. (Still no plans for the holiday.)
Work was interesting today. Both of the women I’m working with took today off, as did their boss, which means I was the only one in the department all day. It wasn’t hard to keep busy, however. (Thank God. You know how I hate on-the-job down time.) I tried to give serious attention to the details that were nagging at me. I really think I made good progress, and that always feels good.
Oh, and have I mentioned that I have a key to the bathroom now? Yep, they issued me my very own key to the toilet, so now I can go without having to borrow a key from one of the coworkers. And I was even given a parking pass for the month of July, so now I can park my car at work without having to get validation!
,OK, that sounds waaay worse than it really is. It’s just that the whole bathroom key and parking thing is just too funny not to comment on. It’s all good. The truth is that this job is one of the better assignments I’ve had this year. The people are really great and there’s plenty of variety and work. Even more importantly, the people I’m working with treat me with a degree of respect that’s normally reserved for regular employees real people. Yeah, I’m having a good time.
I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be in such a positive environment during this odd moment in my life, and how grateful I am to be grateful.
