Hour 40

This has been a rough one. I got zero sleep last night. Nadda. Nil. Sure, I tried all of the usual things I’d do to get quiet, but that broken record about the Locks has a funny way of turning up its volume. It’s easier to just stay awake and think about how I’m going to fight the urge to be angry. The deprivation made for a disjointed day at the office.

Tomorrow should be interesting. I’ve sent off an email to my new friends over at the ACLU, requesting clarity on a few points that we discussed. Depending on what I hear in reply I’ll be taking a few progressive steps later in the day.
Oh, and speaking of progressive steps, I need to mention that Bootsy has generously offered me the use of her darkroom so I can work on my little art project. I think I’m going to need to use different facilities in order to make the really big enlargements, but her facilities will be great for the medium pieces. I can’t tell you how thankful I am to he for this kindness.
And on another note, I’ve been invited to Sev Shoon tomorrow night. I dropped off a copy of my artist statement and police report earlier in the week, and the proprietor has responded by extending me an invitation to their “100 Artists To Defeat Bush” fundraiser. One hundred artists donated one piece of work each, and found a patron willing to pay one hundred dollars in advance. Tomorrow they will be getting together so they can actually chose their artwork. The proceeds will be donated to MoveOn.org. Anyway, I’ve been invited to pass out as many copies of my statement as I wish and even to speak to the group, if I’d like. I haven’t committed yet, but I am very interested and grateful for the invitation.
Well, I may not be making many waves yet, but I am spending money. I’ll have to sit down tomorrow and really count my pennies. Some things are just more important.
Oh, yeah, and I bought a new URL today, just for my new adventure. I don’t have all of it figured out just yet, but I’m hoping to have something online by the beginning of next week. Sure wish I could take full credit for the name of the URL, but that rightfully goes to the activist I keep referring to at my work.
Stay tuned.
