School Stuff
The school quarter is quickly coming to a close, so it’s really been the focus of my recent life. My Monday night photography class was a video and discussion about night photography–including moonlight photography, lightning photography, star points and star trails, and special painting techniques for night photography. The whole thing was incredibly fascinating. I hope I get the opportunity to try some of these techniques on camping trips this summer.

The Same, But Different
If I’m doing my math right, there’s only two weeks of school left. I really can’t believe how quickly the time has passed. My involvements with class, assignments and the photography department, as well as my recent illness, have telescoped time and disoriented me. I still have a lot left to do, and not much time to work with.

Ambition
If you’ve been following the bouncing ball then you probably realize that I’ve grown generally dissatisfied with my lot in life, particularly where it comes to work. I’ve been working as a production artist for years now, and as fun as it is to work on some company’s holiday catalog or to kiss someone’s ass to get a few measly paychecks, I’ve found myself wanting to get more out of it all. I still remember how much fun design can be.

What Is Up
I actually made it out to the darkroom yesterday, which was my first visit there in a week! I brought a new package of photo paper with me (250 sheets this time), so I was able to really focus on enlarging the best print I could instead of worrying about managing my paper supplies. (You can see what I was working on in my photoblog.)

Under Par
Well, I managed to miss out on another Monday lecture. I was still feeling too under the weather to risk driving all the way out to Shoreline for last night’s class. I hate that I missed it. I’ve only got three weeks of school left and now I’m fucking up.

I Got Better
Sorry about the large gap in the entries, but I’ve been under the weather bedridden since Thursday night. I can’t remember when I’ve slept so much. Obviously, I’m not going to go into all of the sordid little details, but I will say that this experience was reminiscent of childhood bouts. Not fun, but I’m starting to feel a lot better now. (Have I mentioned how wonderful Mary is lately? What a lifesaver!)

Bleeding
I drove back out to Puyallup at around 7:00 last night, succumbing to the inspiration to re-shoot my depth of field assignment. I didn’t get back home until after 11:00. As I’ve previously posted, I’d taken my photos on Monday, but with all of the distractions I failed to meet a minor technical requirement for the assignment. Schoolmates were telling me to just take some quick photos in the school parking lot, or to just take the hit and not worry about it, but that’s not why I’m going to school, is it? So, once again leaning on the patience of family, I made another hour drive out to Puyallup.

And Life Goes On
Yesterday was very exciting, in fact, it was far too exciting for my tastes. Obviously, I had some personal business that I had to address (and yet another life lesson to learn), and that really took some air out from under me. It didn’t help that I was supposed to be concentrating on the photo shoot I was setting up, or that I lost my car keys just as I was leaving for that shoot. Way too much negative energy, but I still can’t help but laugh. (It wasn’t quite so easy to laugh yesterday, however.)

Just So You Know
Hi, All. Sorry for the abruptness of that last entry. I realize that it caught some of you by surprise, so I thought I should take just a second here to set things straight.
