Mary was off at work this morning, which left me to my own devices again. The main task for the day has been the labor of love for this web site. I started working on it this morning and have been returning to it throughout the day.
Movable Type (the engine behind the scenes of this site) is a robust and flexible application. While I have become quite comfortable using the features I currently require on this site, things get technical as I research how to make implement the upgrades I’m interested in. Fortunately, the MT site has a support forum, and I know from experience that the members are willing to help out when they can.
A good portion of the day has also been spent working on the treatment of the “Blathering” section of this site. As a directory, I’ve been working up ideas for that section for quite some time. I’ve tried to build something unique, something befitting my vision, and I’m feeling pretty good about the progress I’ve made today. I’m wrapping up the cosmetic treatment, and am now getting ready to put all of the necessary code into my HTML.
One issue that has my attention at the moment is PHP. I’ve read a lot on the MT support forums, and now feel like I really need to get my feet wet with this unfamiliar technology. I don’t know much about PHP, but it seems like it will be the best method of adding interactive content to this site. I just hope I can make enough sense of it to get Blathering up and running quickly.
I still have a lot to do this week, so I’d better get back to it.
