Adjustments

I find myself duly occupied with the day’s tasks while I’m at this new assignment. Accurate color correction is meticulous work, which quite naturally appeals to my sense of detail. While the foundations of the involved processes are extremely technical in nature, they are also intuitive, typically requiring a fair amount of creative thought. I honestly enjoy the challenge.

I think I’m negotiating the learning curve rather quickly. The first few days on the assignment were the usual whirlwind, so much to learn in a new place, with new people. Last week was a Trial by Ordeal. Today was far easier. I recognize my confidence reflected in little things, for example, I’m handling the transparencies less like a teenager fumbling with a condom, and I’m thinking about the next adjustments while the jobs are still in the printing queue.
Things are good.
In other news: I opened a business account over at my bank when I got home from work today. I’ve been maintaining my business license for the last few years, but I just couldn’t justify opening an account. I guess my reasoning has fallen somewhere between a fear of failure and common sense. After receiving a check for some recent graphic design work today, I simply decided that today was the day, so I ran over to the bank and finished up the paperwork just as they were closing their doors.
While my recent steps feels a bit odd at times, they really do make sense. There’s far less planning going into my day than one would normally deem wise, which I think indicates that I am listening. Change is apparent.
