Quiet Time In Slushville
Throughout the night snow turned to freezing rain, transforming the virginal veil of white into a deformed cover of ice and slush. As expected, the local news has become a prolific expose on the horrors of nature and urban life. The streets and sidewalks are covered with various forms of melting ice, which is slowly being washed away by today’s nonstop rain.

Snow Day
I first got up around 1:30 this morning and had a peek out my window to see if the hype about the snowstorm were accurate. Our local news stations had agreed that the first signs of the storm were supposed to occur late in the evening. Although we’ve had a few sprinkles of snow over the last few years, it really hasn’t been much to write home about, so I was a bit disappointed to find that there was still nothing happening outside.

Out & About Thrifting
The drive downtown was nice, giving Mary and I the opportunity to watch the little snow flurries as they swirled across the road. The weather reports assure us that the snow will give way to clearer skies and lower temperatures, but the gentle snowfall stirred far greater daydreams of havoc.

Fade In
Lying in darkness, searching for the ceiling, this morning flowed in the darkness illuminated by angels. I was gently reminded of the propaganda, as well as the sufficient awareness of my obligations. I guess I debated for about an hour before finally conceding pettier points and agreeing to break my nightly fast.

Housekeeping
Continuing yesterday’s theme, I’ve been tending to a variety of “housekeeping” chores today. My thought is still filled with thoughts of trying to make the most of this year, and I recognize that these tasks are a natural result of this trend in thought.

Happy New Year!
Last night presented a bit of an awkward moment. From somewhere on the other side of my bedroom wall, the puppy my neighbor has been watching for the last few weeks continued barking and howling all morning and afternoon and late into the night. It has been howling for days…
