New Year’s Eve

Today is Wednesday, December 31st. It’s the last day of 2003.

The weather reports have been calling for snow since yesterday’s cold front moved in. The flakes Mary and I watched out the sliding glass window dusted Ballard lightly throughout the night, but the streets were wet by the morning and all traces of the white stuff were washed away by this evening.
We’re staying in again this year, keeping quiet. Despite what the network news might propagate, our decision was not inspired by the ample news coverage of possible terrorists attacks. We’re broke and tired, and quite happy to exchange the alcohol-fueled insanity of Amateur Night for the treasures of home. It’s more than a fair trade.
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting lately
