Dealing With It

Jason stopped by the cube at about 4:15 yesterday, bearing bad news. The recent turn of events has left the E-Pro department with a shortage of work, and he felt it necessary to send me home for the day. He said that he wanted me to call in today at 9:00a.m. to see if they’d want me to come in today, while half-jokingly adding, “if at all.”

I called my agency with this news the moment I got home. I explained the situation with as much detail as I could provide, and then disclosed that I would need to make myself available to other assignments if things weren’t resolved quickly. I tried to be as polite as possible while explaining that I don’t get paid to sit by the phone. We left the conversation knowing that I would make the call in to HL2 this morning, and that I’d follow up from there.
I made my call at 9:00 this morning, but eventually had to just leave a voicemail requesting a callback. At 10:00a.m. I left a second message, asking Jason contact my agency in regard to my assignment, and thanked him for a wonderful experience.
Right now I’m waiting for the agency that placed me to return my call. I’ve left a message for my agents, but they are in a meeting until around noon.
I’ve also called another one of my agencies, The Smart Department. I explained that my current assignment may be evaporating, and that I may be available for other work as soon as this afternoon. Bryan responded with considerable interest in my availability. He’s recently met with Publicis, who has (finally) provided feedback from my last assignment
