Yesterday, I scored some of the best deals I’ve found while thrifting. I found an unopened box of Macromedia’s Director 4 for the PC, marked for only $4.99! Considering that this program probably sold for around $900 several years ago, I consider this to be the greatest find to date. I was also able to pick up a 17″ Gateway monitor (in beautiful condition) along with several photography books for less than five bucks.
Another highlight that was missed was the resolution of the whole insurance fiasco. When I called Geico (my insurance carrier) to ask why they hadn’t contacted me, I was informed that the insurance underwriter had apparently removed whatever code from my policy, and that my insurance would continue without interruption. I am now waiting for the corresponding paperwork so I can pay return the money they’ve incorrectly refunded to my back account.
Lastly, I had a rather interesting experience regarding the gift card I’ve received from Bank of America, which was gifted to me for being referred to open an account. The whole experience is that special species of experience that inspires me to painstakingly document and publish. Although I have nothing specific to report right now, you can expect that I will be following up on this in the near future. I just have to consider my options.
Today was fantastic. Even though I don’t have a firm grasp on the specific principals influencing my life at the moment, I am extremely grateful for the continuing theme of the freedom.
I called up my mom and sister and arranged to drive to Puyallup to visit them. This hasn’t happened for far too many years. Mary and I were able to just hang out with them and my nephews for a few hours in a non-family event-related instance. We just hung out, and it was great.
After our nice, long visit in Puyallup, we hit a few thrift stores along the way in our rush back to Ballard. It was too rushed for my liking, and the end of-the-week traffic slowed to a stand-still as we approached Seattle, but we did make it home in time to welcome Kelsey.
Kelsey’s been at her dad’s house all week, so we wanted to make sure to be around when she got back. I’m pleased to see that her shoulders are sun burnt from swimming all day. She became very lethargic after a taco dinner and disappeared into her room. I see her exhaustion as much welcome evidence that she’s been having a good time.
And she’s not the only one. We love to spoil our four-legged friend, so we had him along with us for today’s adventure. We were well stocked with plenty of water and poop bags, but it was still a long, hot drive for the little guy. There was plenty going on and many new things for him to see. He never had the chance to take any of the naps he’s accustomed to. Now, Willy’s completely wiped out.
