As I was saying, I’ve recognized that it’s time for me to check my coordinates. I see this process as more of a mental flossing and cleaning than as any form of crisis control. The instruction is to “Stand porter at the door of thought.” (S&H p. 392; l.24), so I’m questioning the recent, subtle signs of deterioration.
Well, a number of things I was hoping for have turned out far differently than I had anticipated at the beginning of the year. Between my not drinking, laying low from clubbing, and letting go of softball, my social life has taken a serious hit. I’m still not working, which means less money for other activities and even less social interactivity. Since I have been unable to build relationships on common creative grounds, several creative prospects (such as the Virtual Ballard project) remain on indefinite hold. The idea of filing for bankruptcy definitely came as a surprise. Finally, and most substantially, my spiritual priorities require me to keep self-will in check
