Well, it’s Friday, which means it’s the end of the week for most working folks. It was a nice spring day with nice spring weather; weather which left after-work conversations open discussion of softball.
Last year’s neighborhood softball was a pathetic effort that left a few people’s feelings bruised. It’s never fun to be the only one making a concerted effort, especially if it’s supposed to be about group participation. (I really wish I was only talking just about my feelings here, but I’m not.)
Anyway, a few weeks ago I played around with a design for a little calendar flyer for our season, which outlines that the “season” only be played every other weekend. This is different than the two previous years. The idea is that this would free people to do their summer weekend activities, especially since this schedule clearly eliminates several major holiday dates. I incorporated some text outlining the idea and requesting feedback into the flyer, and handed it out to friends this afternoon. I tried to make it plain that this really won’t work without individual participation, and explained that it was entirely acceptable to decline
