Please excuse the recent disruption in my entries. The last week has been a bit challenging, and I’m still working it all through.
As of last Sunday, all six of the St. Paddy’s Day cameras have been recovered, adding another $9.00 to the running expense total for my little project. By Tuesday, many thoughts and reservations regarding my continuing pattern of spending without any return broke through the surface. I resolved to taking all the photos, thumbnails and related materials over to the OP, where I worked on organizing (for hours). As friends arrived, I showed them what I was doing and explained my dilemma.
I can’t accurately describe how grateful I am for the feedback I received. People were genuinely excited to hear about the poster idea, and said that they would gladly pay the price I’d set. One friend told me to make sure I asked for the cash when I was ready (in advance of printing), and another asked if I would take the money right then, with enthusiasm. Although I haven’t been back to ask others, eight people committed to buying one of the finished prints when they are done. “Well, yeah,” Leah said, having asked and paid for a copy of last print I designed, “they’re good!”
Anyway, I’ve been working on the design for the poster ever since, in that consumed, distracted way that I do. It’s a welcome outlet vs. the shit I’ve been sorting through in my heart. I am particularly pleased with the design so far, and the thought that this will be a frame-worthy keepsake for these friends is regenerating.
In related news, I have been unable to connect with my dearest friend, Narelle. We keep playing phone-tag, but haven’t connected. She did send me a thoughtful note earlier this week, but nothing compares to having a good hour long conversation with a loved one on the other side of the planet. (More on her later, I’m sure.)
