(Please excuse that lack of war coverage. I’m sure you can find plenty of that elsewhere.)
St. Paddy’s Day was wonderful. Mary and I went over to Sarah and Dean’s for breakfast at 10:00am, and we didn’t call it quits until about 9:30 at night. It was a blast.
I went to the O.P. at noon on Tuesday to see how many of the disposable cameras actually made it back behind the bar, and was surprised and delighted to learn that five of the six cameras had been completely used and returned!
Gabby was saying, “Did Carl tell you how much he loved your idea?” Since he was right there in front of me, I joked a bit by stressing that he hadn’t.
I’m honestly not sure if Carl was trying to be funny, but he had the cameras in hand and was commenting on how fun he thought the idea was, and that all of the pictures had been taken, and then he thanked me “for doing that” and proceeded to put the cameras right back behind the bar. Attempting to tactfully address the situation was only met with a response of, “So, were you wanting to share the cost of developing?”
Uh, nice try. Lessee, 6 cameras and some batteries from Costco, $46.21, and another $46.34 for film developing for the surviving five rolls of film. Was he seriously thinking I’d donate the cameras? This may have been a little experiment and I may be having fun, but I’ve been far too nice about doing things that benefit Carl’s little pub without consideration.
Despite Carl’s instigation of an awkward situation, I politely clarified the goals of my project and soon left with my cameras. On the way out Gabby reminded me that she would be happy to help pay for my expenses if I’m doing another collage, which would be great, but I’m not sure how well this will be received in the end.
This morning, I went to the pub after picking of the developed pictures. As expected, they are very dark and look like someone who was drunk took them. Considering that I have only one set of tits, one ass and one cock in the set, I think I’ve made out pretty well. These, added to the 114 shots from the digital camera, provide a nice little creative arsenal.
I’d very much like to do this project at about 2′ x 3′, but the best pricing I’ve found so far is about $75. Doing it any smaller seriously curtails the number of photos I can use. Unless something can be done to offset my costs, I’m currently stopped from approaching this as a print project.
